Technology

I have a love/hate relationship with technology. I love it's efficiency but hate when it freezes, stalls, breaks. I have never felt the need to get the latest tech gadget. I don't own an ipod, mp3 player, flatscreen tv, blue ray, etc. I love having a cell phone, I've had one for as long as I can remember, my phone was strickly for talking. Talking A LOT to friends, family, & clients, prior to having kids and being a work at home mom. I hated when people would text me (since I didn't believe in texting and it wasn't part of my service plan) all I could think about was "I have to pay for this!" Last week, I finally broke down and bought the blackberry curve along with the upgraded service plan. I realized I needed the web capability in my hands to make my limited work time more efficient. As my stomach grows larger, the times of quickly running downstairs to my computer to check email are slipping away. Nothing is quick now. During their time

Grayson Wedding Invitation Set

Image
Introducing the Grayson Wedding Invitation Set , a 2009 Stelie Designs original. It's a more classic look than my usual style but I created personalized stationery this past winter and decided to see how it looked in a wedding set. I was pleased with it's uniqueness to my offerings. I took a modern approach by not having the black scrolls cover an entire side. The text is in a dark pink and black and printed on recycled white cardstock in a smooth finish.

Another Room Revealed!

Image
This is Paxton and Avery's new room, the old master bedroom. It's the largest of the 4 bedrooms in our 1947 rambler. It is perfect for them. Someday, in the distant future, when they want their own rooms, this will become *Kick & Faffer's room. I went with a neutral background so the vibrant colors in the art and bedding would really pop! I smile everytime I enter. Well not when all the books, toys, clothes are strewn about the floor. It definitely turned into the modern kids room I was planning, without the expensive modern furniture of my dreams. Good old IKEA beds and a refurbished dresser made it much more economical. Plus, the bold art above their dresser was my creation. I whipped it out in an evening, my husband gathered the left over paint I was requesting from various paints we have used in our homes. The fish works with Mr. P's bedding and the 4 with Miss A's bedding, plus my kids love fish, they just turned 4 and soon there will be 4 kid

Dearly missed but not forgotten!

Today we had to say our goodbye's to our almost 13 year old golden retriever. Tanner was a phenominal animal, friend, companion, & brother. We were lucky enough to have another wonderful 15 months with him from when the vet thought he may have liver cancer. We miss you terribly but thank you for bringing such joy to our lives now your spirit can run and play like you did when you were a puppy.

A Dinosaur Party!

Image
Saturday we celebrated P&A's 4th birthday with a dinosaur party. Complete with dinosaur masks, dinosaur tatoo's, dinosaur cakes, P's dinosaur tie, A's dinosaur hat, dinosaur party favors, dinosaur decorations, and a dinosaur dig. They had so much fun, well actually, I think everyone had fun! Thank you to all our friends for attending and making their day extra special.

Happy Birthday!

Dear Paxton & Avery, 4 years ago my life changed in ways I never knew possible. You, my sweet miracles, Paxton & Avery, were born on this day! Thankfully you waited to be born until my scheduled c-section. I couldn't sleep the night before because I was so excited to finally meet you, to hold you, and to give you lots of kisses. Our delivery time was delayed 2 hours which made the anticipation grow even more. Daddy, Mommy, Grandma, Papa & Aunt Julie were bursting at the seams waiting for your arrival. It was truly a magnificent day. Even though we had to spend our first night apart (Mommy wasn't reacting well to the medication and Paxton, you had to go with Grandma & Daddy to another hospital) the next day we were all back together feeling good. It would be almost 3 years before I'd spend another night away from you. My how the years have been wonderful. I have loved every second being your Mommy! I always tell you I am the luckiest Mommy in the w

Refurbished! Recycled!

Image
Or is it upcycled? Either way, this is a dresser make over story. This dresser was in my grandparents attic until this past September when my Grandma moved into an apartment. I of course had to have it. I of course also had high dreams for what this dresser would become. After my parents hauled it from another state to my home. My darling husband took it apart filled all the holes, fixed drawers, sanded, sprayed, drilled new holes and put it back together so it would look like the dreams I had for it and would fit perfectly in Paxton & Avery's new room. It now has a much more clean and modern feel, just like their room.

To my Parents

{My proud parents with all their current grandchildren} Thank you for being such wonderful role models, for giving me a fabulously incredible life and for setting a wonderful example of marriage. Here's to another 40! We love and miss you.

Slowly finishing our home projects

Image
Is it possible to ever finish home projects? I say no, it seems they are constantly evolving into something else. If you remember this post then you may be waiting to see pictures of finished rooms. My office is close to being done but has to wait until my Dad returns to MN to finish it. P&A have lived in their room for over a month but I still need to hang art on the walls. The babies room is far from complete so don't be looking to see it until early summer. Here is my our guest room (aka grandma & papa's room) which once was an office/second guest room, then second guest room, then dumping ground for stuff we didn't know what to do with. {the quilt & shams are Sami Hayek for Target, originally $80, I found on clearance for $17} {The screen in the corner was designed by me and built by my Dad many moons ago} Our new bedroom is much smaller than our previous bedroom but I love how cozy it feels. Since we've lived in this home it has only served two purpos

Vacation Pics

Image
We've been home for 11 days and I'm now going to post pics from our wonderfully warm vacation. Perfect time to reminisce since out weather has taken another cold turn. Waiting patiently to take off! A lot of hide n seek was played, P&A's favorite hiding spot was in the kitchen cupboard which their now 14 yr old cousin couldn't find them so he tried it too and had a hard time getting out! Avery & Daddy enjoying a little swimming Paxton & Papa loving the water All kids need are a bucket of water, cups, a few toys & a little sunshine Chess in the morning anyone? A quick family pic before we head to the airport

A couple things I'm working on...

Here are sneak peaks at two weddings I'm finishing up in the next week. You'll see them in their entirety once they are completed and out the door.

The moment you've been waiting for!

Thursday our level 2 ultrasound went well both babies look very healthy and are growing right on track. We are happy to announce we are expecting another baby boy (Faffer) and another baby girl (Kick)! Now we have until July to decide on their real names. This time we are more relaxed and less decisive than last time, P&A had their names at their level 2 ultrasound.
