Warm Spell

Image
This weekend brought a much needed warm spell (30's & 40's) here in Minnesota. We took full advantage while we knew it would be short. Sunday was a great day to play outside. The kids and daddy made snow angels, shoveled, and played on the slide. Monday we went to the zoo. We even braved the outdoor part and got to see the puma's, baby lynx, and tigers among many others without freezing our tails off. The inside dolphins and sharks are always a great attraction too. Here are pics by the tiger's den. Avery trying to block the sun while sitting on a baby tiger Paxton blocking the sun even though he didn't need to

The Eyes Have It!

It's been a while since I've posted anything about P&A, it's not because they haven't done anything adorable or note worthy (that is daily.) It's because their mommy has been too busy to post it. So this is for those who want to hear about them. Recently, we have been discussing eye color. Paxton has blue eyes, Avery has hazel (sometimes brown) eyes, she prefers to refer to them as dark eyes. They are big into matching things and noting like things. So P says "mommy has blue eyes like me." "Grandma & papa have blue eyes like me." A says "daddy has dark eyes like me." "Grandma Karen has dark eyes like me." Yes, but in reality A doesn't have her dad's eyes she has her grandma karen's eye color. Which in turn came from her dad, so I guess she's right. Last week was a really big week for P&A, Monday they got to have their first sleep over at grandma & papa's without mommy. I survived.

New Ribbon Collection

Image
I've started creating more cards with ribbons. Here is a peek at just a few cards from the new Ribbon Collection by Stelie Designs. These have not yet been posted to my etsy shop. You are the first to view them, after me, my husband, my mom, and my dad, okay so not quite the first.

Something New

This card was inspired by the need for spring to come soon & the rainboots (see below) I'm planning to get Avery for her b-day (shhh.) I just love this green w/white polka dots paper purse and the raspberry twine handle. How fun! It's true art imitates fashion, just wait until I post another new purse card. It's delightful.

Locked Out!

Monday morning, the kids and I drove my husband to work since his car is in the shop. We were all dressed and ready to go so we continued on to running errands. Since it was barely 8:00, Target was to be our first stop of many. That morning was particularly fidgid, we'd been having a slight heat wave of 30's, now it was below zero wind chill. Being one of the first to arrive at Target we got a great spot right in front. I was able to get some groceries and the kids were able to do their usual "look at toys!" Well it was now time to get moving onto the rest of our errands. Bundled the kids back up and off to the car we went. To my surprise, my remote wasn't working, so I tried the key, it didn't work either. For a quick minute, I thought it was the wrong silver SUV. I looked inside, nope, that was our toys/mess. I now realized our locks were frozen, my sweet husband got my car washed the day before. Arrggh.. Thankfully, somehow I was able to get th

Rockin' Mini Card

Image
I just created my first mini card - it measures 2.25"x3.5". The guitar is hand drawn by me and each guitar & heart are cut out separately by yours truly as well. I was going to write "have a rockin' valentines" but decided to leave it blank. Once I figure out pricing and packaging they will be uploaded to my etsy store. My third post for the day, can you tell the kids are napping?

Moving Anyone?

Image
Who knew moving could be so fun? I'm lovin' these custom moving cards. Simple and modern with a dash of zest!! If you know of anyone moving or recently moved, I have pre-designed but enjoy creating custom cards.

Hi Again!

It's been a while since my last post, I don't even know where to begin. Hmm...how have I been keeping busy...besides taking care of P&A...It's E&B invite production time, 230 of those beauty's all by hand, moving cards, valentines, and selling our pool table & artwork. Now that the kids toys keep getting larger, the playroom/former dining room is not able to hold them all. Therefore, the basement is getting a make-over, meaning, the not so much played pool table had to go. Then the walls were full of wine/bar themed artwork. Not really appropriate for children's play area. All went on craigslist and were sold in less than a week. I LOVE craigslist! I've only sold, but have had great luck. The guy that bought our pool table even sent me a note saying how he'd already played it and was loving it. The woman who bought our art was re-doing their basement and had bought a pool table and this art was going to be perfect. Funny how cyclical li

Bedtime Silliness

Bedtime at our home is always interesting, tonight was no exception. The kids ask me to sing their song every so often. The back story is: When they are laying in their beds, I sing (not very well) & spell their name (A-V-E-R-Y, mommy loves her Avery for Miss A & P-A-X-T-O-N, etc. for Mr. P) while moving their legs, other than the words and tune, its never exactly the same. I started singing it to them when they were itty bitty babies, and every so often since them. In the last few months they have been asking for it more often and only at bedtime. Typically P asks first but tonight, A asked first so I was singing to her. P was asking for his song, so Jer said daddy can do it, he said no, mommy! but daddy tried anyway. I finished with A and P said mommy, daddy not do it so well!! HAHAHAHA Needless to say, Jer and I were rolling. I sang to him and then he started singing it himself. To our amazement, Mr. P can spell his name. Miss A misses 2 letters but she sings it well and add

Happy New Year!!!

Image
Welcome 2008!! I hope everyone had a great and safe New Years Eve celebration! New Years Eve brings another special event for us, not only is it the reflecting of the past year and celebrating the beginning of another but it is also our wedding anniversary. My sweet husband & I were married December 31, 2002. There wasn't much going on but since it was our 5 year we decided to do a little celebrating on our own. My parents came over to babysit so we went ice skating in the afternoon and dinner in the evening. Ice skating was the first time for me in too many years to count. Jer was showing off his skating skills, while I was able to move forward and turn. Unfortunately it was terrible ice, all bumpy but we managed to stay up the whole time without falling. Then we ran some errands and back home. We had a great time once we actually got in the car, little P was distraught mommy was leaving without him. After some screaming and crying, we made it out the door. It doesn't las
