i'm still here. if you follow me on facebook or twitter...(if not, i'd love it if you did.) then you know i have 3 sick children and am without daycare this week.  typically when my little ones are napping, i'm in the office. except when they are sick, napping doesn't necessarily happen or my little guy is napping on me and then i end up with typos, etc. so anyway, i am here and will be posting new & recent stuff soon, along with my big kids b-day celebration and family updates. bear with me.  (speaking of bear...i drew a cute little bear for a client) also come next week, i'll be starting a new work schedule more details on that when i can. here's a pic of my 4 at my desk playing pbskids.  you can also see my office is a disaster since stelie's been so busy this year. :: use my little time to clean or to design? clearly i choose design.  which would you choose?

or pears!

Image
meet the new piper! it's for the perfect pair getting married! its funny how designs come into fruitation (no pun intended) i drew this pear in early 2008 for a client but wasn't used.  i saw this pear everytime i open my wedding folder, which is many times a day. in the back of my head i said i need to use this in an upcoming design. fast forward 3 years and she's finally gracing the cover of her own invite. you can find her here .

how 'bout them apples!

Image
the other day, i couldn't get the saying how 'bout them apples out of my head. so i designed the hazel wedding invitation around it. here's how :: 1 apple (from my apple stationery) + a heart  (drawn by me)  x 2 = hazel

guest book!

Image
there are so many cool wedding guest book ideas out there.  8 years ago, my guestbook was a tad untraditional and fun at that time.  we did the izone sticky photos, where a photo was taken, then stuck in to a scrapbook along with a handwritten message from each guest.  recently i worked on a super fun and unique guestbook project.  My client came to me with a phrase "Today was a good day" & a background design found on her invites.  She wanted enough room for guests to sign and will eventually matte & frame. i mean how perfect is "today was a good day" to describe two people in love uniting in marriage?

bilingual custom design - part 2

Image
the finished custom design project i mentioned here .  the invitation suite entailed french invitation with postcard rsvp + tear off map printed on natural white cardstock placed in curry envelopes along with a bilingual invitation also printed on natural white cardstock placed in blossom envelopes. my #1 goal in all my designs is for the bride + groom to love their invitations.  this bride not only loved her invites but also shared with me how these have been well received by guests. she sent me a note with this: "Everyone who contacted us about the wedding mentioned how beautiful these invites are. Some of the feedback from France are: unique, original, and very innovative." so so happy to hear this. so happy in fact, i can't wait for the guests to see the additional pieces we're working on for the reception. do you have a vision in your head and need someone to create it for you?  i'm here for you.

big kids room take 2

Image
6.5 months ago we moved to the country. to a small town. to our current home. in that time we have redone a lot!  remember my kids room here ? weeeeellllll....a couple weekends ago my lovely now 6 year olds decided to move rooms. the back story:: prior to moving in, i planned their room at the end of the hall or the farthest from the babies, the guest room was to be across from the babies room.  then we decided since our overnight guests now live 10 minutes away, it would be almost never used.  so the guest room became the big kids playroom.  the room where all the toys with little parts could be kept away from little mouths.  after moving in, i was slowly regretting this decision. their room was colder than the playroom since it had 3 outside walls. here is what it looked like as a playroom on a clean day this fall [a room that was on the bottom of our to do list.] it moved up on our list of to do items, when avery + paxton finally decided to move into that room. i had been

last weekend

we took a trip to my hometown... thursday, while walking out of school to our car, paxton informed me "my throat hurts mommy, but i'm okay. we can still go!"  (foreshadowing what was to come) we got home, loaded up our van with luggage, toys, kids and off we went. stopping for a quick bite to eat. changed everyone into their jammies, got back in the car & continued our journey.  all fell asleep. until we arrived at my parents place there. big kids went right to sleep. little kids....not so much. i finally got them to sleep again at midnight.  (note to self: do not travel at night until little ones older.) friday morning i snapped these photos paxton's throat was still sore, so off to a clinic he went to confirm what i already knew. strep throat. saturday afternoon, we drove in a little blizzardy weather to visit my dear friends new baby. and the rest of her fam too. my mom and i had to fight avery to hold baby ellie. avery is just like her mommy, who's just
