If you haven't already, you can read part 1 here  where I mentioned plans for Avery & Adler's shared room.  Now I think we have finally narrowed down the boys room. Here is an old pic of where we are starting for the boys room, soon to be formerly Easton & Adler's room.   Paxton's favorite color is orange or pink, Easton's favorite color is green and I wanted to incorporate that.  Paxton originally wanted this big wall of funky swirls but after seeing what it would actually look like, he wasn't a fan.  I showed him how it would look painted on a giant canvas with a solid wall behind.  Yep, that was the ticket.   Whew!! that saves me lots of time!     The plan is to start this weekend or first thing next week.  I'm going to do both rooms simultaneously so there will be a big slumber party in our room.

This summer BIG changes are happening in the G-K home!  We are moving rooms. (well, my hubby & I are staying in the same spot, although, it would fit all 4 kids perfectly)  Upstairs we have Paxton & Avery's room, Easton & Adler's room, a playroom and our room.  Since my 8 year olds still do not want their own room, we are switching to a boy and a girl room.  Wish us luck, we've been talking this up for about a year.  P&A are so bonded (they've only spent two nights separate, when P was 20 months & in the hospital) that I'm slightly nervous and secretly a little sad about separating them. {Avery in our playroom before painting} Yesterday's post , left off with my computer wall paint choices  I went with my first option, it was the one in my head and just needed to verify. One day late last October, I taped out my stripes with frog tape.  Honestly, I had super high hopes for frog tape.  My first time using.   In reality the key to clean / straight lines isn't the tape, it's painting over the tape with the base color, providing a clean seal.   Paxton got to work on the charcoal grey.  I wasn't thrilled with how the base color made it more brown than grey.  I had to do 3 coats and could've done more but was ready to be done.  Not quite dry. In all honesty, I still wasn't loving how it was turning out. Not so kid fun, more adult fun.  Here is how it looks now.  After adding some key lime green, hot pink pops of color, I'm happy with it.   We've lived in our home for 29 months and it is forever evolving. Our main floor playroom (aka some day when the kids are grown dining room) has probably seen the most changes.  Because as the kids age, so do their needs and so do the needs of the playroom. It looked like this a few weeks after moving in. It was for baby or big toys only since my littlest were only 13 months old. then it evolved to this a year later  then then 7 months ago we inherited this heirloom which become our art epicenter. all the while, I was never IN LOVE with the paint color.  Our previous playroom had been a true turquoise, which I LOVED!!!! but was looking for something different more subtle with pops of color in this house.  I'd mentioned painting the playroom to my son, Paxton (7), and he was all, let's repaint it! let's repaint it NOW! umm, okay. Now I'm on the spot to either make it happen or disappoint my son.  What's a mom to do?!?!!!  ...

today at my house. a couple new ceiling lights. (the giant cloud is still debatable, although has grown on us) toys played. fun had. my new product + designs, showcased in my office.  forgot to decorate for a minimal thanksgiving decorating. pilgrims made in school + avery's turkey drawing she added real chicken feathers she's collected & washed. (oh and we have a few leaves / turkey paper art on our sliding glass door)

6.5 months ago we moved to the country. to a small town. to our current home. in that time we have redone a lot!  remember my kids room here ? weeeeellllll....a couple weekends ago my lovely now 6 year olds decided to move rooms. the back story:: prior to moving in, i planned their room at the end of the hall or the farthest from the babies, the guest room was to be across from the babies room.  then we decided since our overnight guests now live 10 minutes away, it would be almost never used.  so the guest room became the big kids playroom.  the room where all the toys with little parts could be kept away from little mouths.  after moving in, i was slowly regretting this decision. their room was colder than the playroom since it had 3 outside walls. here is what it looked like as a playroom on a clean day this fall [a room that was on the bottom of our to do list.] it moved up on our list of to do items, when avery +...

below is how the kitchen looked when we first saw it. my favorite is the clunky track lights! too small island, with an unattached countertop, lack of storage space, poor conditioned floors. and now... ahh....much better, almost complete. i am still looking for lighting but this industrial look of light bulbs hanging from the ceiling is growing on me. not.  {discloser: if you think this is how it looks when i'm not taking photos. you're crazy, i do have 4 little kids!} white corian countertops top off the medium brown IKEA cabinets for the modern look i was after. i designed the kitchen, my husband & dad put it together and installed them. {the handles, prints & table are also from IKEA, chairs from target, faucet by danze, maple laminate floors, paint~wheat bread by behr, new maple trim compliments of my talented husband}

paper chains were a flutter a while ago  i cut patterned paper into 1"x6" strips (i had the paper laying around filed in drawers but you can buy some) and made paper chains attached with staples (after gluestick & tape wouldn't hold)  then added them to our garland and hanging stockings. this house doesn't have a mantel nor fireplace so this is where our stockings ended up.

this is what our half bath looked like when i fell in love with this house this is what it looks like now all new maple trim & new vanity cabinet ~ made by my dear love ~ a new toilet,  new tile floor, paint, new faucet. we reused the top, mirror and light for now. our mudroom before and now our laundry before and a few weeks ago...my husband had just built and installed the cabinet. it now has shelves. doors will be a future project. while nothings completely finished its all moving along. i am so happy and love how its all coming together.
